Have you noticed that celery juice is everywhere!? I first started hearing about it years ago and how it was the new trendy ingredient amongst celebrities. Remember when kale was that way? At the time, I did some juicing, but never just celery. I am not big on trying the latest health trends and at the time, didn’t try celery juice.
Late last year, I started noticing that so many people were posting their celery juice on social media. Several years had gone by since I originally heard about celery juice and people were still singing it’s praises. Out of curiosity, I started to Google what the hype was about. After reading all about the benefits, I decided to try it for myself and thought I’d share my experience here. I started drinking it early January, so I’ve been consistently drinking it each morning for about 2 months or so.
Benefits of celery juice:
- Celery juice enhances the immune system
- Celery juice lowers bad cholesterol
- Celery juice lowers blood pressure
- Celery juice neutralizes and flushes toxins out of the liver
- Celery juice improves digestion and helps with bloating
- Celery juice helps keep your adrenals stable and functioning
- Celery juice is very alkaline and helps neutralize stomach acids to balance the bodies pH levels
- Celery juice is highly nutritious
The “how to” of celery juice:
It’s recommended that you drink 16oz of celery juice every morning on an empty stomach. I prefer to wait an hour before consuming anything else (my experience is below), but ideally you will wait at least 15-30 minutes before consuming anything else.
Also, juicing organic celery is best. Celery is on the dirty dozen list. Conventional celery is one of the top twelve types of produce with the most pesticide residue.
My experience with celery juice:
Originally, I read that you should drink celery juice on an empty stomach and wait 15 minutes before consuming anything else. For the first few weeks, I would drink my celery juice immediately after working out, wait 15 minuets, then have my smoothie. A few weeks later, I was reading that it’s best to wait an hour before consuming anything else. I decided to switch up my routine and drink the celery juice prior to working out. Usually my workouts are 60-90 minutes, so I enjoyed my smoothie after my workout. This has been a game changer!
Almost immediately after making this adjustment, I noticed positive effects. My digestion has improved, my skin is more hydrated and clearer, and I feel like I have more energy. Truthfully, I did not love the taste at first. However, it has grown on me and I actually look forward to my glass of celery juice each day!
If you’re curious about it, I recommend giving it a try. Just do your research and make sure it’s the right choice for you.
According to Anthony Williams, in his book Liver Rescue, “Celery Juice is one of the most powerful and healing juices we can drink. Just 16 ounces of fresh celery juice every morning on an empty stomach can transform your health and digestion in as little as one week.”
